So, if you can't find the answer you're looking for, or want to read multiple answersyou loose the question, have to re-search it and find the post all over again, and then reperat the process!.

Hi there! I know I'm not the first & I probably won't be the last person to request this. I really think we've been waiting long enough for an improvement to the current pop-up gallery. It must be years since it's had a make-over - I joined in 2007. I'm aware of all the ways we can customise the current pop-out gallery - but it's no longer powerful enough for the functionality we need as siteleaders. I was wondering ComDot or anyone really could you tell us if there is a planned overhaul of the gallery feature & if so when is it planned for. In the meantime does anyone know of a way to integrate a Lightbox or similar device which we could use in conjunction with our moonfruit sites? (perhaps using the html widget) Thanks I'd really appreciate any feedback you might have.

if nothing is addressed re the gallery issue, I think I may reluctantly have to move my sites elsewhere since they rely heavily on image presentation - one is an artist's website & the other is used for web design & it is vital that the images are viewed at their optimum.

Incidentally, this is not meant to be entirely negative - all the recent improvements & bug fixes are all very welcome so thanks for your continuing hard work.

Ok, thanks for listening - I look forward to a response

Katrine

Personally the sitemaker is great and all but thats not good. Im not asking for a memory increase, but im asking to do what all other website builders have, provide outside image storage (insert a link to the picture and it will appear) otherwise i will leave this site for one that has more storage.

Hi,

Your websites and account are all fully functional although your account is due on 22nd October. You have three domains you should have renewed when you got our reminder email for each. Two emails were due October 6 and one yesterday (October 19). If you log into moonfruit.com, go to Domains, you will see a renew button under each of these domains. If you take action today then you should be able to renew these without too many problems.

I can see that you did contact us on the 16th to which we replied with information on your domain sarahjaneadams.com which needs amending with GoDaddy. While you may think that your domain is set up correctly, doing an NSLOOKUP provides evidence that it has not been set up correctly:

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

C:\Documents and Settings\walt.GREEKATTIC>nslookup sarahjaneadams.com

Server: mimas.greekattic.local

Address: 192.168.2.4

*** No address (A) records available for sarahjaneadams.com

C:\Documents and Settings\walt.GREEKATTIC>nslookup www.sarahjaneadams.com

Server: mimas.greekattic.local

Address: 192.168.2.4

Non-authoritative answer:

Name: www.sarahjaneadams.com

Address: 146.101.249.107

If you could contact GoDaddy and ask them to explain why they haven't set the A recocord for root domain and get them to change it for you.

We will confirm these details in a reply to your most recent ticket.

Thanks - Comdot

Having waited two days for a response in the 'Help from Site Leaders' area of the forum, and for a reply from the support email address, I'm now posting this here in the hope of an actual explanation.

For well over a week, nine of my Moonfruit sites have only been displaying the message '404-Not found' These are sites that all have domain names hosted with GoDaddy, my Moonfruit sites linked to domains hosted elsewhere remain unaffected. I have checked all of my GoDaddy dns records, which are all fine, and these have been checked by the GoDaddy help team who have looked through everything and referred me to you. These domains were all linked up perfectly for over a year, when now the sites are all suddenly unaccessible, without any alteration from myself whatsoever.

These are as follows:

sjadams.moonfruit.com > sarahjaneadams.com

alices-boutique.moonfruit.com > alices-boutique.com

sophiefrench.moonfruit.com > sophiefrench.com

plague.moonfruit.com > payasugocartel.com

zena.moonfruit.com > zenagibbs.com

michelinalucia.moonfruit.com > micheliasaleno.com

aartifi.moonfruit.com > aartifi.com

jamessonb.moonfruit.com > jamessonb.com

liamrooke.moonfruit.com > liamrooke.com

In an attempt to rectify this situation for at least one of my sites, I decided to transfer one domain name from GoDaddy to Moonfruit. However, having attempted to assign this to a site, it has taken well over 72 hours with no effect.

This domain name is www.creativevanity.com, which should be assigned to www.beautyliciousblingwebdesign.moonfruit.com

This situation is getting incredibly frustrating, not helped by the obvious lack of any kind of response. I am losing thousands of hits, and of course, valuable business, and don't think this is the sort of service I should be paying £15.99 a month for. As I am a national press journalist, perhaps I should write an article about Moonfruit's disinterest in order to get my situation resolved?

I look forward to your explanation and immediate rectifying of these problems.

Sorry Andrew,

I forgot to reply to your last paragraph. Yes we have had several DDOS atacks recenlty. But as a hosting company it must be stressed that it is specific websites that are being targetted, not Moonfruit. Unfortunately when those sites are targetted it does have a knock on affect for those hosting their websites on the same service. While you might think that this is unacceptable, it is all too common for all web hosting companies.

Even Facebook, as well as Twitter, have been the subjects of DDOS attacks so we are not alone. In fact in an ealier post DDOS attacks have been carried on major banks - yes the ones with deep pockets and extensive resources - as well as the odd country. So, avoiding DDOS is not a reality, but reacting, blocking and recovering are. We have certainly improved our response times to this type of event.

We understand that up-time is important for many of our customer who earn a living from their websites. We take providing a good service very seriously but DDOS attacks are not an easy thing to combat against. You can only ensure you minimise the risks and have good recovery procedures. We recovered this event, the one today in under 30 minutes. We wish we could have recovered quicker but this was a little different and took us a little longer to counter the attack.

I hear what your saying Andrew, but I hope you can appreciate we do take our provision of service seriously and we do all we can to keep you, everyone and their sites up and running. We will continue to learn and improve.

But thank you for your comments. It reminds us of how important our surveilance and recovery actions are.

Regards

- Comdot

(Walt)

Andrew,

Sorry but if you are referring to your post on the Moonfruit Lounge, you were not filtered, checked or approved. We actually post the notifications of the Service Status site before we do anything else. Your including a website address in your post about the DDOS was not an issue for us. It was an issue for our spam system, Akismet, which parks or suspends any comments with URLs in them. When I made my post on the lounge at 17:17 I then check ed the spam comments, saw yours and published it.

So far from playing 'big brother' we are quite upfront about our service. The only times we have felt the need to remove comments from the for um or from the Lounge is when comments have been offensive or spamvertising. If you do look through our Gripes section in the forum and comments on the Lounge you will see quite a few gripes which we have dealt with by responding to openly, professionally and without the need to hide any problems we've had with our service supply.

So please do take my word that we do not filter genuine comments on either the Lounge or this Forum. I appreciate how you might have thought we do edit or filter, but the simple fact is, we don't.

I do hope that clears up this matter for you. And I apologise for the cofusion caused. As you can appreciate the watchdogs we have at our front gate (automated systems like Akismet) don't always tell the good guys from the bad.

Regards

-Comdot

(Walt)

Since joining moonfruit in 2006 i have never once had a gripe about how the way they operate as i have always been impressed with the quality of what they offer in terms of SiteMaker which in my view is amazin, also the staff have been fantastic when ever i have had a problem But and this has to be said is there any thing in place to prevent us siteleaders from revealing or making public any service disruption ie( DDOS ) before it gets posted on the moonfruit lounge blog something

which i did only to find my post had to be checked before it was published something i i can't understand .as in the end it was removed . How did this happen well i don't know except moonfruit might have wanted to wait until they had properly conducted their research into why after a service disruption which took place on thursday 15th October reappeared today 17.10.2009 with a second outage where both the main website/forum and all websites run by moonfruit started to play up

the only site unaffected was the moonfruit lounge which meant one was able to report that there were problems in accessing one's website but then it became apparrent something was wrong see here http://status.sitemakerlive.com/

I appolgise to Moonfruit that may be i should haven't mentioned what now appears to be a DDOS atttack the third one in three months but seeing that i am now on a reseller package and have linked my site to facebook ( fanpage) felt this should be mentioned , a 2 hour disruption spread over two days is a bit much for those who are trying to earn a little income from their website where the response is quick in rectifying what caused both outages also taking into account the annual cost of keeping one's website going over a 12 month period

Hi David,

I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. We know at times we have been slow to respond which is why, with growing numbers of customers we have doubled the number of staff on the support team over the last 12 month. We are certainly concious that a company like ours has to continue to provide new features and tools while balancing that with improved customer service.

While we take on new staff, we have improved our support management system, are using our blog site (http://www.moonfruitlounge.com/), increasing our communication on this forum to assist customers, updating FAQ and looking at how else we can improve and broaden eh service we supply. For you this may be a case of shutting the gate once the horse has bolted but we do take our Support seriously and we are taking steps to improve.

As for Debbie, I did reply to her post in several places and the lack of support she mentions was down to her emailing us directly and not using our Support Form. We find it necessary to block all mail that isn't sent with a security key - that is inserted from our contact form. She has been replied to and service provided.

Regards

- Comdot

Hi Debbie,

Could I possibly suggest that you read our replies in this forum to your many posts before you go slating Support. We have already advised that the best way to get assistance is to use the Query Form that is available to all users under Help. As explained your last two attempts to contact us were emailed direct which will never reach our Support System. These were binned by our spam filter.

This is to ensure all Queries get logged with a unique number - and all genuine queries will get an automated response - as you did get when contacted us previously for other issues which were resolved promptly for you.

If you use our system correctly we do offer good support. And the existence of this forum is also testement to the fact that when communication fails through our normal system you have the ability to raise a concern or complaint - as you have done - and get a response - as we have done to all of your posts in this forum.

We have even set up a ticket for you so that you can respond and we can get this resolved as quickly as possible.

Thank you.

Comdot

Thank you - Comdot

I GIVE UP....Sorry, I am leaving Moonfruit today. Moonfruit has the best websites, features and user friendly templates that I have seen and tried. I have tried numerous webvsites of this type over the past 8 or so years. The customer support is THE worse that I have encountered within this industry and even amongst cable and cell phone services. I would not be able to recommend this company simply becasue of the customer support.

This is unfortunate because I belong to a network marketing group that is growing extremely fast and all of them need websites to use insted of the replicated sites. We are 125,000 strong and growing and that is just sthe U.S, not including Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Repubic and other Spanish speaking markets. I was definitely prpared to become an affiliate/reseller.

I hope that you get your support issues straight along with a toll free number in the United States for better service. Good luck to everyone else.
